If you’re planning a vacation you want to be sure you’re going to enjoy the food when you get there. Two weeks can be a long time if you’re unhappy with the cuisine.
But for the really foodies who like good healthy food, maybe cuisine will actually be the top priority… If that sounds like you, here are four countries that top the list when it comes to offering food that is both tasty and healthy, not to mention thoroughly enjoyable. You’ll certainly be going back for seconds in these four countries.
Japan
This one is obvious. Rice is a staple dish here and it can be presented in lots of different ways. Domburi is cooked rice with a tasty topping, while sushi can refer either to raw fish or to rice cooked with the addition of sushi vinegar. There are plenty of healthy options and amazing tastes and flavors to appreciate.
China
We’re not talking about the Chinese food you can get from your local restaurant, although some of the ingredients will be the same. We’re talking about barely cooked dishes that meet the wok for a few moments only, combining healthy vegetables, sauces, rice and noodles for mouth watering results.
Thailand
Thai cuisine is an experience not to be missed. Fresh ingredients are used to perk up many dishes, and the signature tastes of coriander and lemon grass will be in evidence too. Fresh, clean and presenting a clear and enjoyable taste – that’s the best description of traditional Thai food.
Italy
Not all Italian dishes are healthy as well as tasty. But you won’t just get lasagna and pizza to choose from either. The trick is that the Italians eat smaller portions and introduce lots of tasty olive oil into their recipes. Fresh salads, tomato based sauces and fresh pasta in moderation make for a healthy and extremely tasty menu to dip in and out of.

It should be mentioned of course that every country has both healthy and unhealthy food. Even Japan has a few dishes that could be said to be unhealthy – and most countries have fast food joints close by, no matter where you are staying… There are few countries where McDonalds haven’t sprung up somewhere.
What is special about the countries above is that their traditional cuisine is popular around the world for being delicious, but when cooked in the correct way and enjoyed as the locals do there are plenty of amazingly healthy dishes to choose from.
You can probably tell from the examples given above that fresh food and the best foods are used in abundance. Vegetables, rice and tasty accompaniments to give flavor are among the many secrets they make the most of.
